Barberstown Castle is tucked away in the village of Straffan, Co. Kildare, just thirty minutes outside of Dublin. This dreamy, 13th century wedding venue has stunning backdrops at every turn. From autumn’s crimson ivy crawling up the castle’s facade to summer’s blooms bringing life and colour to the gardens, Barberstown Castle provides a unique, romantic setting for your wedding celebrations no matter the time of year. Barberstown Castle is registered to legally host civil ceremonies. It’s a medieval castle. Need I say more?

Barberstown Castle remains an iconic landmark despite conflict, rebellion, and plunder. Thanks to its owners, who have done a gorgeous job preserving its original beauty, it has aged like a fine wine over the last 700 years. Your guests will feel like they have traveled back in time for your wedding.

    It’s not your average venue

A Barberstown Castle wedding is perfect for those looking for something different. We’re talking cut-your-cake-with-the castle-sword different. The castle was also Eric Clapton’s home from 1979-1987, where he hosted many famous rock stars throughout the years. The absolute sessions they must’ve had!

    Unique ceremony locations

Couples can tie the knot inside the historic castle’s conservatory with its exposed brick and stone walls, ample natural light, and one-of-a-kind medieval tapestries. There are also twenty acres of gorgeous grounds filled with flowers and wildlife and a perfect setting for a romantic outdoor ceremony. Imagine exchanging your vows under a picturesque weeping willow or ancient ash tree adorned with fairy lights.

    Celebrations for days

Dripping in antique chandeliers and candelabras, the 16th-century Banqueting Hall accommodates 50-250 guests. Couples can host a rehearsal dinner, or a gathering of the clans, while taking in the magical vibe of the medieval Castle Keep. The celebration can continue for 150 guests the day after in The Haggard, a traditional Irish pub in the castle’s old coach house building.
