Meath Wedding Venue
04.12.24

If you’re passionate about exposed brick, you’ll love The Millhouse in Slane.

This striking Georgian manor house sits along the banks of the River Boyne, giving it a calming, romantic vibe. The house is full of character, but factor in the old mill, and you have one of Meath’s most alternative wedding venues.

About the Venue

Originally a corn mill built in 1766, The Old Mill Slane became a textile manufacturer with time, and The Millhouse hosted steamboat passengers during its brief run as a hotel in the early 1900s. In 2006, The Millhouse got a makeover to become the stunning boutique hotel and unique wedding venue that it is today.

The Ceremony

If your heart’s set on an outdoor affair, The Orchard is stunning on a summer’s day. But the Ceremony Room in the Old Mill is where The Millhouse really shines. This bright and inviting warehouse-style room has an industrial look with a certain softness that creates a modern, romantic look. Swoon-worthy vintage crystal chandeliers dangle from the high ceilings, adding a touch of glitz to the room’s exposed brick and crisp white accents. While this space seats up to 200 guests, its warm energy fills the room even with a smaller crowd.

The fee varies slightly depending on the location you choose, with a €420 hire fee for The Mill and a €450 hire fee for outdoor ceremonies.

Dining and Dancing

When it’s dinnertime, you’ll take in fab views of the River Boyne, the Orchard, and the gardens from inside the Pavilion. This dining room seats up to 200 guests underneath a fairy-light-dusted canopy that gives off a warm, romantic glow. The only thing that rivals its beauty is the meal you’ll enjoy, made using local, seasonal produce straight from the Boyne Valley area. With everything from a gourmet barbecue to an elegant four-course meal, there’s something to suit everyone’s taste.

Inside the perfectly decorated manor house are 15 gorgeous rooms which sleep up to 50 people. There’s also the on-site glamping option, which is class. As you and your guests will have the full run of the house for the day of your wedding, all bedrooms in the house must be booked (at special accommodation rates) on the night, while pre- and post-wedding bookings are subject to availability.
